Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Develop, and evaluate manufacturing methods.
  • Use innovative and practical methods to make improvements in manufacturing methods that result in improved quality and increased productivity while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Design and document tooling designs on drawings that communicate tooling requirements to toolmakers.
  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
  • Use appropriate project management techniques to ensure tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, routings, and the CNC programs are fully defined, documented, and implemented.
  • Design, develop, test, or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements and potential including machine capability studies, etc.
  • Support 5-S, efforts throughout the plant.


Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of personal computers and related software, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
  • CNC Programming experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
  • Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Well-versed in machine shop manufacturing processes and setups.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Education and Experience:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering
