December Fun Facts

December is the twelfth and last month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days.

In Latin, decem means “ten”. December was also the tenth month in the Roman calendar until a monthless winter period was divided between January and February.

December’s flower is the narcissus or holly. December’s birthstones are turquoise, lapis lazuli, zircon, topaz (blue), or tanzanite.

December is the month with the shortest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest daylight hours of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.

December starts on the same day of the week as September.

Additional Benefit of Joining FADC

I have talked with all of you about the site “”  It is an information and referral website for duct cleaning.  We have been very selective with who can participate in this website.  We did this for a very good reason.  We do not want any negative reviews because of “bait and switch” advertising or someone who is known as a “blow and go” type duct cleaner.

We are in the process of updating our own website,, to include a benefit to those participants of the “”.  All duct cleaners that are listed on that site will be bolded and a website (if available) will be added to their listing so that they will stand out on the “locations” section of the Air-Care site.

This is an additional benefit to try to promote good air duct cleaning and promote those who have the criteria of being accepted on the “”.

Air-Care has always been a leader in this industry and in the local Las Vegas Valley for duct cleaning.  We have our own websites for service locally and we have Buddy Rigotti here on our staff to help control and promote these websites.

We have always emphasized customer service as our number one priority for you the service provider and also for our residential and commercial customers here in Las Vegas.  We want to share that service and quality standards and try to promote duct cleaners like us in their own areas.   If you are successful, we are successful.

We will keep promoting and improving “” as well as our own websites.

If you feel you would qualify for this website and want to participate, please give me a call so we can discuss.

Thank you for giving Air-Care the opportunity to help improve your own business.

Staying Positive and Profitable in a Down Economy

Our company has always been “lean and mean”. Being conservative and creative has been our business model. There have been a number of slow downs in our 30 years in business and we have always made it work.

Change can be seen as a problem or an opportunity; here at Air Care we see every change as an opportunity to find new ways to grow and stay ahead of the pack. This year is no exception.

You, as a small business owner, represent the majority of commerce in the United States. It’s the small businesses that keep the economic engine running, so you need to be creative and help our nation get through this challenging time. We will be sharing with you any and all ideas that will improve your sales. It is important for everyone to think outside the box and make a difference.

Air-Care Now Offers Custom Marketing Websites To Air Duct Cleaning Customers

Update: This service is no longer available, as we currently re-evaluate this service offering.

Air-Care is pleased to launch a new product exclusively for our air duct cleaning customers – Custom Marketing Websites.

The Internet has virtually replaced the Yellow Pages as the source for quickly finding the goods and services people need every day. Air-Care Web has made it possible for you to have a professional and highly effective website.

Now, you can affordably expand your business…making it instantly visible and viable to your target customers.

You need a website that represents all that your business can offer. The cost of a well-designed website prevents many businesses from even trying to develop one, but exclusively through Air-Care, you can now get a customized website that gives you the ability to choose from professionally-designed themes and general content fed by Air-care.

Ordering Electrostatic Air Filters

Throughout the year we have numerous customers call about the difference between custom and standard filters. It’s important to remember when ordering filters to make sure that you take the time to order the correct size and type of filter.

All custom filters are cut to the exact measurements of the sizes that are entered in the online ordering system. You have to allow for a 1/8” overall manufacturing tolerance on both custom and standard filters. Custom filters cannot be returned, so be sure your are accurate in entering measurements.

All standard filters are a nominal cut, meaning we undercut 3/8” from the size listed. All standard filters can be returned as long as they are still in the original shrink wrap and have not been used. Standard filters are subject to a 20% restocking fee and return shipping at your expense. You must call prior to returning filters to obtain a return authorization number from our customer service department.

We carry 41 standard sizes listed below:

The difference between these are: 82% percent has one less layer of polypropylene which allows more air to flow through but it will collect less debris than the 94% which has the extra layer of polypropylene and will collect more debris.

We also offer 3 types of filters: Gold Frame, Silver Frame or Flexible Frame. Our Gold filters have a rigid frame and the polypropylene material is UV resistant, which means that if you have a UV light in the system you need to use this type of filter. Silver filters have a little more give to them and the flex filters have no rigid frame around the material.

President’s Corner – Temps are Rising and So Is Business

Well summer has started early here in Las Vegas. It was 107 degrees here yesterday and you can bet that all the air conditioners are running full time. That means more service work for us and in fact, we have put out another truck to support the increase in work. These are good problems to have and I hope all of you have the same “problem”.

Not only has our service business increased but our filter and equipment sales have grown as well. This has caused us to hire more people and invest in more manufacturing equipment. Las Vegas was one of the most affected cities in the nation as related to unemployment at 14%, and in spite of that, we are one of the very few companies in the nation that are growing.

On another subject we have decided to manufacture our own UVC lights in-house to control the quality and the supply of units. We will be shipping out units immediately and plan to be able to support over 2,000 units per month as our first production goal. We have been using the Lean Manufacturing process for years with our filter production and will introduce the same process with UVC lights. This will insure the lowest cost to produce and improve our product flow to make timely deliveries.

You may or may not know that we are also manufacturing our own HEPA filters and have invested in equipment to support that process.  Every day we are looking for ways to improve our products and contain cost to make our equipment and parts the most competitive in our industry.

Thanks for your support and confidence in our company.

Our Wonderful Vacation

Well since last month was the vacation month for most people, I want to share with you what my wife and I did for our vacation.

This was a first for us in a number of ways. My wife and I have been married for 47 years and have gone on a lot of vacations together but this was the first time we have been gone for a month and we went to some places we have never been.

Our first destination was Niagara Falls NY then on to Boston to visit family. Next, to the Statue Of Liberty in NY and then to Hershey, PA to see the Chocolate capital of the USA. Then we headed home.

There is some thing else I need to mention. We traveled in our 43 foot motor home with our two dogs – how much fun is that?! Of course, we stayed in touch with the office since we have a computer on board and I did receive a lot of email.

All in all, the trip was about 6,000 miles round trip with lots of rest stops, restaurants and truck stops for fuel.

The USA is such a large country with so many interesting places to see. Everyone should see as much of it as possible. Talk to all of you next month.

NADCA Conference 2010

I just returned from the NADCA Convention in Tucson.  The reaction to the conference was very good.  Wayne and I worked our booth during the Exhibit Hall hours.

One thing that was discussed while I was there, was the use of the NADCA logo in ads.  Unless you are a NADCA member, you cannot use their logo.  This is reserved for the companies that are current certified members.

When you come to our training at Air-Care, we do use the NADCA standards to train you, but that does not give you permission to use the NADCA logo.  We give you a certificate from Air-Care.

This can become very serious because NADCA watches this very closely.  It can lead to huge fines from NADCA.  You can become a member of NADCA by going to their website ( and filling out an application.  Of course, application fees and annual membership fees apply.

Please keep this in mind when placing ads.  You really shouldn’t use any logos of companies that you are not affiliated with.  In the next newsletter, I will discuss the use of the Air-Care logo in ads.
